Welcome to beckyhorsfall.co.uk, the onine journal of Rebecca Horsfall. I am currently based in Plymouth, Devon seeking employment in the South West area. To find out more about my experience, skills and achievements, please read on…

I have recently completed a four-year degree at the University of Plymouth in BA (Hons) Digital Art and Technology where I obtained a 2:1 classification with a Certificate of Professional Training. I also received the i-DAT Centre of Expertise ‘dot-dot-dot’ Prize for my outstanding contribution to research projects and workshops within the Institute.

As part of my degree I completed a thirteen-month work placement at Virgin Radio (now known as Absolute Radio) based in London. I worked as an Assistant Digital Media Producer within a team of ten to deliver detailed editorial content for virginradio.co.uk. My responsibilities included updating features on the DJs and Shows section, the weekly album chart, designing ticket banners, writing articles, photographing bands and producing microsites for clients such as Sky, Yahoo! and 20th Century Fox.

As well as my experience working for a national radio station I have a range previous experiences working with young people and facilitating media based workshops. Throughout my degree I was part of the Aimhigher Peninsula Programme where I worked with young people from a number of local schools and colleges. I acted as a Student Ambassador, an E-Mentor and participated in residential courses. I also worked for the Widening Participation department at the University of Plymouth, which involved mentoring three year eleven students at Sir John Hunt Community Sports College, Plymouth.

In addition to this I facilitated workshops for the Institute of Digital Art and Technology In my role as a Research Assistant. I worked closely with various groups of challenging young people across Plymouth by helping to assist and create workshops related to digital media. Projects included v-mOb – Video Workshops for Mobile Phones. Aimed at a wide range of people from young to old, the workshops support the development of micro movies, stop frame animation, video montages and any number of creative solutions for using your mobile phone.

Throughout my time at university I have always been keen to get involved so when the chance to organise a public final year show was offered to me I jumped at the opportunity. I nominated myself forward for the challenging role of Project Manager to organise a show called UnBranded, which was held in the Roland Levinsky Building at the University of Plymouth. This involved arranging meetings, taking minutes, sourcing a budget, proof reading press releases and flyers before circulation and organising my fellow peers.

My personal interests include digital photography (proud owner of a Canon 20D), teaching myself new Photoshop skills, visiting art galleries, going to the theatre, music, festivals, films, the Internet, media, cooking and keeping fit. I am a passionate music fan and found my time at Virgin Radio a fantastic opportunity to work alongside other music lovers, discover new talent and appreciate live music. I also hold a full clean driving license and own my own car.
